We’ve all been moved by the terrible scenes in Ukraine in recent weeks. And, with millions of refugees fleeing the country, the UK is offering safety for those forced to leave. Now, with new initiatives introduced, you don’t have to have a directly family member in the UK to live there. There’s now a scheme that will help you, even if you don’t.
Here’s what you can do –
Ukraine Family Scheme
If you have immediate, or extended family members in the UK, they can be your sponsor. This means that you can come to the UK to live and work. This scheme is open to Ukrainian nationals and does not include any salary or language requirements.
You can apply online, and successful applicants will be granted leave to remain in the UK for three years. During this time, you are able to work and have access to some public funds.
Applications being made under the Ukrainian Family Scheme are being prioritised by the Home Office.
Homes for Ukraine
The UK is known as being one of the most generous nations in the world. And now, we are opening our homes to those fleeing the war in Ukraine.
Individuals and organisations are being asked to sponsor guests from Ukraine in their homes. This offer of accommodation is for a minimum of 6 months. This could be a spare room, a whole house, or even self-contained units. The accommodation will be rent free
This scheme is for Ukrainians who have no family ties in the UK. As with the Ukrainian Family Scheme, those granted permission can live and work in the UK for three years.
